Teladoc®

At Health New England, we believe that having a primary care provider (PCP) for yourself and a pediatrician for your children is very important. We encourage you to get an annual well-care visit with your PCP so that you can discuss ways to stay healthy, as well as how to manage any chronic conditions. Having this relationship with your PCP/pediatrician is the best thing you can do for your health and your children’s health.

Contact your PCP first

For non-emergency medical issues, always contact your PCP first. Most of our PCPs see their patients for non-emergency medical issues on a timely basis.

Because medical problems may occur at any time, Health New England asks our network PCPs to make arrangements for calls and coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Talk to your PCP ahead of time to find out about care after normal business hours. In these cases, you should reach your PCP’s answering service, who will contact your PCP for you. Also, you may reach the provider who is on call for your PCP.

If your PCP is unavailable

However, if you are unable to reach your PCP, BeHealthy Partnership members have access to U.S. board-certified physicians 24/7/365 through Teladoc®. With Teladoc, you can request a phone, mobile app or online video consultation with a Teladoc physician to treat non-emergency medical issues such as colds and the flu, bronchitis, allergies, rashes and more. Teladoc physicians can electronically prescribe non-narcotic, short-term prescriptions as part of the treatment.

A convenient alternative to the urgent care center or emergency room, Teladoc guarantees to connect you with a physician in less than an hour.

Teladoc offers quality care. In addition to being U.S board-certified in internal medicine, family practice, emergency medicine and pediatrics, Teladoc physicians are U.S. residents, licensed in your state with an average of 20 years of practice experience.

Please note that Teladoc should not be used for treatment of chronic conditions and is not intended to replace your PCP. If your PCP’s fax number is provided, Teladoc will send a copy of the visit to your PCP after the consultation.
