CEO Reproductive Rights Message

Health New England Supports Reproductive Rights

To Health New England Associates, Members and Community Partners:

Many Americans are trying to understand the ramifications of the Supreme Court decision related to Roe vs. Wade, passed on Friday, June 24, 2022. Health New England MassHealth Enrollees may be questioning how this will affect their health care coverage.

At Health New England, coverage for reproductive health care is not changing in response to the Roe vs. Wade reversal. Our organization will follow the legal requirements set forth by Massachusetts related to abortion care and reproductive rights. Health New England’s MassHealth Enrollees will continue to have access to and coverage of abortion and family planning services, including access to prescription medications. Enrollees can find additional information in their member handbook.

Richard Swift, President and CEO of Health New England, stated, “Access to reproductive care has a direct impact on overall health and prevents health disparities. That is why we are committed to supporting our members and ensuring Health New England’s reproductive care benefits remain unchanged.”

As always, Health New England and Baystate Health work together to advance care and enhance lives in support of our mission to improve the health and lives of the people in our communities.

Sincerely,

Richard Swift
President and Chief Executive Officer
